"Summer days are gone too soon. You shoot the moon and miss completely."

Shoot the Moon - Norah Jones

So my friends and I have been talking about tattoos a lot lately. The latest discussion was brought on by my friend's rather new [and rather large] tattoo of a flower on her side. While it isn't my taste at all, it's very her, and she is very happy with it.

Obviously, this conversation always leads to "What would you get if you got a tattoo?" This is something that I've actually been thinking about a lot lately.

I really want a tattoo of a moon. Like a realistic picture of the moon. And it wouldn't be very big: only an inch and a half or two. I even know where I would put it. [On my back, near my right arm at the bottom of my rib cage.] And most likely, it would say "Shoot the moon." around it in white ink.

But I don't know if I ever will. I really want to, but I feel like I would always be too scared to do it. I've always been a commitment-phobe of sorts with everything I do.

If you got a tattoo, what would you get?

I kind of want "Vivere" in a cursive-like font tattooed on the curve of my waist..slightly sloping downward if that makes sense [so like..extending from my side to my hip, curving around it all] and maybe with an even tinier butterfly near it to represent my devotion to being above the influence. I like your moon idea - I've never heard of it before!

I've never really liked flower tattoos, but then again I like tattoos to actually mean something. To each their own. I've always thought about getting a small music note or shamrock on my ankle. Just something small.

tattoos are dumb.

Tattoos aren't REALLY forever, you know. They even make fader strips now that will take out the ink if you change your mind down the road. Plus, you only live once. No regrets. The pain isn't too bad, and it's really not that big of a deal anymore in this day and age. Do what you want. It's your body, hon.
